Submitting a Problem
Learn how to fill the submission form so the run has enough structure: title, summary, description, evaluation plan, links, resources, and constraints.
What each core field is for
- Title: a concise public-facing problem name that remains searchable in listings.
- Abstract / Summary: a short overview or imported abstract, not the full brief.
- Problem Description: the substantive research request, including constraints, success criteria, and what changed from any source paper or fork.
- Domain and tags: the discovery and categorization layer for ranking and search.
- Evaluation Plan: the metrics, baselines, and acceptance logic you want the run to respect.
- Execution Constraints: optional spend, runtime, or environment constraints that matter operationally.
Goal:
Design a dynamic activation function for continual learning.
Why it matters:
Current functions trade plasticity for stability too aggressively.
Success criteria:
- Improve retention after task switches
- Keep compute cost within the current baseline budget
Constraints:
- Reproduce on the referenced benchmark suite
- Prefer approaches that remain packageable and inspectable
Evaluation:
Compare against baseline activations, report metrics, ablations, and failure cases.Use a bounded structure. The run can ask for more detail later at a needs-input checkpoint.
Import arXiv papers through /abs, /html, or /pdf routes
omegaXiv supports arXiv import shortcuts that all end at the submit flow. Visiting `/abs/<arxivId>`, `/html/<arxivId>`, or `/pdf/<arxivId>` redirects into `/submit?importArxiv=<arxivId>` after normalizing the identifier.
That import fetches the arXiv metadata feed, pre-fills the title and abstract/summary, and records the canonical arXiv source link for attribution. It does not generate the actual problem description for you, so you still need to define the research request, constraints, and success criteria before submitting.
- ✓Treat the imported abstract as source context, not as the finished problem brief.
- ✓Add a fresh problem description that explains what should change relative to the source paper.
- ✓Keep the imported attribution link unless you are intentionally submitting from a different source.
The import path saves typing and preserves provenance, but the best runs still come from a bounded problem statement you wrote explicitly.
If the source paper is broad, narrow it down before dispatch so the run does not inherit an oversized objective.

Use references, datasets, and resource hints strategically
The submit form supports related work links plus attached reference files. Keep these focused on material the run should actually consult: arXiv papers, GitHub repositories, Hugging Face assets, benchmark notes, or local attachments that encode hard constraints.
Datasets and resources should be actionable. If access is restricted, explain the access path or fallback expectations instead of dropping an unlabeled URL.
- ✓Add links that narrow the problem, not links that merely look adjacent.
- ✓Describe evaluation assets in terms of how they should be used.
- ✓Use the budget and compute estimate fields when cost or accelerator assumptions matter to dispatch decisions.
A problem description that only says 'solve X with AI' usually creates weak runs and noisy review loops.
Specify what counts as success, what evidence matters, and which failure modes should be surfaced instead of hidden.
What happens after submission
Once saved, the problem can sit in discovery, accumulate votes and comments, or be launched directly. If the problem is public, it can be sponsored by any signed-in member. Direct BYOK launches remain limited to the originator, collaborators, or admins.
Your wording continues to matter after dispatch because the run detail page and later review surfaces inherit context from the original brief.
